Meeting Minutes
STAR Touring & Riding Association
RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA CHAPTER 345
MEETING |
5/14/2011
May 2011 Chapter Ride Recap:
On the way over to the shop, it started drizzling so I was a little concerned about the weather. Well my concerns were soon put to rest when the sun popped out and the day turned to a fantastic 74 degrees and a perfect day for riding.
This month's Chapter ride was a short destination ride to the Rainbow Cafe located in Fallbrook. We rode approximately 120 round trip and the riding conditions were perfect.
Motorcycles started to arrive at No Pork around 8 o’clock and continued arriving until about 8:50 a.m. We began our meeting around 8:30 a.m. and Mark Murray (our past president) was presented with an award for his dedication to the Chapter. We appreciate Mark's loyalty and contributions to this Chapter. Thank you Mark!
First, we would like to welcome several new riders for this month’s event, Jim and Lynn Pixley, Jason Rawls, John "CUYO" Rehmann, Giancinto “DINO” Magliochetti, and Robert Faulkner who all came out to ride and learn more about STAR. We hope your introduction was rewarding and we hope to see you again on future rides!!
We then held a raffle. The first prize was a riding vest donated by Tony and Ramona. It was won by Fey, Tony and Ramona's daughter. Congratulations to you! We then had the drawing for the 50/50 raffle and the winner was Jason Rawls. Way to go Jason!
After a quick 10 minute safety briefing with all the new riders, it was kickstands up and we were headed down the road toward the Rainbow Café with 14 bikes and 16 riders. Upon entering the highway a vehicle towing a trailer blew a tire and several of the riders had to avoid flying debris from the blown tire. A little heart pounding is always good for the soul. Thanks to our ride captain and tail gunners for a job well done!
We arrived at Rainbow Café around 10:05 a.m., the café was packed and we looked like we were in for a long wait. Thanks to Niki for thinking ahead and making reservations, as the wait was only about 5 minutes. ATTAGIRL…
Breakfast was FANTASTIC, and company was excellent. After we all stuffed our bellies and the dishes where cleared, it was time to ride again.
This time we broke up in to two groups. 9 riders took the twisty’s through Rice Canyon prior to entering the 15 North for the ride back to Nopork Motorsports. The other 5 riders headed directly to the 15 north for the ride home.
The ride ended at approximately 1:15 p.m.
Thank you all for making this a great and enjoyable day for everyone.
Hope to see you all next month!
